Therapy on your terms. You choose the therapist. Not an algorithm.

Psychotherapy Partners is where independent psychotherapists meet the people looking for them. Read profiles and reviews, pick someone you feel good about, and book a first conversation, online or in person.

Are you a psychotherapist? See how it works for you

In a crisis or an emergency, call 112 or your local emergency number.

How it works

Four steps. No subscription, no commitment.

  1. Hands holding a phone with profile cards on a wooden table

    1. Choose

Browse profiles, specialties and reviews written by other clients. Take your time.

  2. A hand marking a date on a paper wall calendar

    2. Book

Pick a free slot in the therapist's calendar, at least 48 hours ahead. Some therapists offer the first visit free of charge.

  3. Hands at a kitchen table with a phone and a cup of coffee

    3. Pay in advance

Pay each session by bank transfer, straight to the therapist, at the latest 24 hours before it starts. The bank details come with the confirmation.

  4. A person seen from behind during a video call at a home desk

    4. Meet

Online, in your browser, or in person at the therapist's office. Whichever the two of you agreed on.

No subscription. No commitment. Each session is paid for on its own, and only the ones you book.

Why people choose Psychotherapy Partners

Therapy works when you trust the person in the other chair. So the choice stays with you, from the first meeting to the last.

  • You choose the therapist, not an algorithm

Nobody is assigned to you. You read, compare and decide who you want to talk to.

  • You can read what others wrote

Clients rate their therapists after meetings. The ratings and comments are public and cannot be bought.

  • You can switch therapists at any time

If it does not feel right, book someone else. No explanations needed.

  • You can stop at any time

There is no contract, no notice period and no fee for leaving.

  • No subscription is required

You pay your therapist for each session on its own, in advance, by bank transfer.

The human psyche, like human bones, is strongly inclined towards self-healing. The psychotherapist's job, like that of the orthopaedic surgeon's, is to provide the conditions in which self-healing can best take place.

Online or in person

Each therapist decides which they offer. Many offer both.

Questions people ask

Short, plain answers. The terms for clients say more.

Is this the right place in a crisis?

No. Psychotherapy Partners is not a crisis or emergency service. Nobody at Psychotherapy Partners monitors conversations, and a therapist may not read a message for hours or days. In a crisis or an emergency, especially when there is a risk of harm to yourself or others, call 112 or your local emergency number right away. You can read more in the terms for clients.

Do you check therapists' qualifications?

No. Each therapist describes their own education, licences and experience on their profile and may back them up with images, such as certificates or photos of their office. The therapist alone is responsible for holding the qualifications they describe; Psychotherapy Partners does not verify them. Details are in the terms for clients.

How does payment work?

Each session is paid in advance, by bank transfer straight to the therapist, at the latest 24 hours before it starts. The bank details and a transfer title come with the booking confirmation and are always on your payments page. Psychotherapy Partners never handles your money and issues no invoices: if you need one, the therapist issues it.

How far ahead can I book?

At least 48 hours ahead, and up to the end of the next month. A therapist's calendar shows the free slots from 48 hours from now to the last day of the following month, and on the first day of each month it opens one month further. If you want a regular weekly slot, book it as a cyclical meeting: it is then held for you and the further dates appear by themselves as the calendar moves forward, so you never have to book them again.

What does a free first visit mean?

Some therapists choose to offer the first meeting for a given service free of charge. On the profile you will see the regular price struck through and the first visit at zero, with nothing to pay for it. It is the therapist's own decision, and it applies only to your first meeting with that therapist.

How does cancelling work?

You can cancel any meeting before it starts. Each therapist sets their own free-cancellation deadline, 48 hours by default, and you see it before you book. If you cancel in time, a session you have already paid for is refunded by the therapist. If you cancel later than that, or do not turn up, the session is paid in full and not refunded. A therapist can cancel at any time: you then owe nothing, and whatever you have paid is refunded.

Are meetings recorded?

No. Psychotherapy Partners never records audio or video of an online meeting, and recording in any form, including screenshots, is prohibited for everyone taking part. The only thing stored is the text chat between you and your therapist.

Can I book therapy for my child?

Yes. Every account belongs to an adult, so you register and book from your own account and remain the client of record. Your child attends the meeting in person, or online from your device. Look for therapists who list child and adolescent therapy among their specialties.
